The Independent Reconfiguration Panel, under the Chairmanship of Dr Peter Barrett CBE, visited the Gloucestershire mental health inpatient facilities for older people during June and July. They visited Weavers Croft on July 4th and took evidence from staff, patients, carers and individuals and organisations interested and involved in mental health provision.
David Miller met the Panel on behalf of The Save Stroud Hospitals Taskforce and The League of Friends of the Stroud Hospitals and Health Centre. The Independent Reconfiguration Panel's advice on mental health services for older people in Gloucestershire was submitted on 27th July 2007 to the new Secretary of State for Health the Rt. Hon Alan Johnson MP.
This advice will be published on the IRP website www.irpanel.org.uk shortly. We believe that the Secretary of State may also make known his decision soon.
