Stroud Maternity SAVED - 24th September

Stroud Maternity Hospital has been SAVED!!!.

The three Primary Care Trust boards presently responsible for making the health care decisions in Gloucestershire have decided to keep Stroud Maternity open and to retain midwife-led maternity services at Cheltenham.  All consultant-led services will be centralised at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester.

Clearly this is fantastic news for Stroud and a testament to the enormous amount of public opposition which the original proposal generated.  For the full story on Stroud Maternity and Weavers Croft, as well as the other services under threat, please click here.
