Summer Campaign 2006

It's been a long and tough campaign so far, and we thank the people of Stroud, and beyond, for their continuing support.  Below are some of the milestones we reached throughout the summer of 2006 - a summer Stroud will never forget!

Harper_small.jpg Pamela Harper, whose husband Ken is an in-patient at Weavers Croft, made national headlines on BBC News this week when she and her daughter Sue appeared in a feature on the crisis in mental health funding across the country.  More...
parl_small.jpg Protesters from across Gloucestershire took their campaign to Westminster on Tuesday 18th July. A specially chartered train organised by our friends in the Forest of Dean took around 600 people in total to the capital to bring our campaign to the attention of national politicians and health professionals.  More...

piano4_small.jpg Music was brought to the streets of Stroud Saturday 15th July to raise some money and, more importantly, the profile of the campaign to Save Stroud Hospitals.  Pupils from Archway School were amongst those who entertained the crowds as the piano they were playing was pushed from Cainscross in to Stroud.  More...
beer2_small.jpg Uley Brewery joined the campaign on Tuesday 11th July by launching Dr Steel's Medicine, an especially refreshing local beer designed to reach the parts of Stroud other campaigns cannot reach!  Look out for it at your local over the coming few months.  More...

We have received a letter from the Chief Executive of the Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust in reply to more than 800 responses they have received to their Mental Health Proposals.   read more...

The Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust Board has agreed to extend the consultation period on Weavers Croft to the full 12 weeks we have been seeking. It will now end on 11th August   read more...
